Summer Fun at The Beach Waterpark

Our lives revolve around the water. My daughter started swim lessons at 18 months, and quickly fell in love. As a competitive swimmer for the Mason Manta Rays and Mason Water Moccasins, she is currently in the pool practicing or competing five to six days a week. So, when we visited The Beach Waterpark last week, she was ecstatic for a day of summer fun in the water!

The Beach Waterpark is located right off of 1-71 N in Mason (you can see the infamous “Cliff” from the highway!). It’s easy to find with lots of reasonably priced parking ($8/day). Since I am not a fan of crowds, I took my daughter and a friend to The Beach on a Monday morning right after the park opened. The day was perfect with low humidity and sunny skies; and the park was all ours at 10 a.m. – no crowds! After settling into our lounge chairs around the zero-entry Big Surf Wave Pool (lockers are available for rent for $8 – $15), we took off to explore the park.

Immediately, I appreciated that The Beach has lots of attractions in a smaller environment. The girls were not overwhelmed and felt comfortable enough to roam the park by themselves. However, I still feel that parental supervision is essential to a safe and fun day at The Beach. Even though these two friends are strong swimmers, I was very happy with the amount of lifeguards assigned to each attraction and their rotation time.

With most thrill attractions having a 45″ height requirement, the girls were able to enjoy slides such as The Cliff, Cowabunga Curl, Banzai Blast and Kamikaze — the girls went down again and again, their screams and giggling echoing down the slides. The girls also played in the Big Creek Beach playground and were dunked by the 600-gallon dump bucket. This is the perfect area for your little fish to explore and play on your visit.

My daughter is a bit of a dare devil; and I knew she would love the newest thrill ride to the park… the Soaring Eagle Zip Line. You’ll pay a little extra for this ride ($15/2 people), but it’s totally worth it. The girls were safely strapped into the zip line seats; and with hands above their heads and loud happy screams, they soared across the wave pool. That was definitely my favorite memory from the day!

Finally, a waterpark visit would not be complete without two things: First, a little relaxation in the Kokomo Lazy River. The girls enjoyed sunbathing on an inner tube while floating along a 1,200-foot river through the park. Second, and a personal preference, is enjoying fun park treats such as soft pretzels, nachos and funnel cakes. The park only allows patrons to bring in bottled water, no food. And after a day at the water park, your little ones will build up quite an appetite!

The Beach Waterpark is definitely a great place for the whole family to enjoy. I suggest bringing these items to secure a fabulous day:

  • Cash/Credit Card
  • Bottled water
  • Towels
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat/Visor
  • Sunglasses
  • Swim suit/Cover-up
  • Flip flops/water shoes/sandals
  • Beach bag
  • Goggles
  • Hand sanitizer

We had a blast — and will definitely be back before the end of the summer!
